Tiger Craft VIPER
The Viper new for 2014 is the industrys first ever aftermarket freeride Wave Blaster. Tiger Craft has been working with Craig “Zimmy” Hammond for several months to bring the sport a new and improved surf blaster. The bottom of the hull is based off a proven front rocker, shortened rear, and an improved intake that was run by Zimmy for over 2 years in the surf. Many people who have tried outthe original design were impressed with the way it handled. After many hours of planning, the decision was made to move forward with bringing a quality fixed steer hull to the surf community.
truing the hull design and added much needed improvements to the top deck, making adjustments for additional clearance around the exhaust manifold area where B-pipes are notorious for rubbing the hull, completely redesigning the seat area to accommodate a motocross style seat and making major upgrades to the hood design, allowing it to breathe from under the seat for minimal water intrusion. We also added new and original lines to the top deck, giving the hull an updated look while maintaining the much loved blaster riding stance, ergonomics, and shape.
The new hull will use a standard B1 driveline, but we have set the hull up for sturdier, more readily available couch mounts or sj mounts instead of using the standard weak blaster mount design. This will also allow for the use of engine keepers for those big air attempts. The hull is setup SJ style tank, waterbox, and battery relocation to bring the center of gravity closer to the rider in order to improve handling characteristics.
We anticipate a significant weight savings on the new layups, adding to the already nimble handling characteristics of the original design. We are also experimenting with other modifications for final release. More information will be disclosed once we have a complete hull laid up.
Many blaster projects in the past have never come to fruition, but we can say without a doubt that this is one blaster hull you will see this year. Zimmy will be rocking this new setup at the Spring WaveDaze in Virginia Beach.
